Travel/Transportation

Arrival by plane at Frankfurt/Main airport (FRA)

Please follow the signs to Regionalbahnhof” (regional train station), located in Terminal 1, after baggage clearance. Either take S8 (direction: Wiesbaden Hbf) or Regionalexpress (local train) to Mainz Hbf. The ride takes approx. 25 minutes and costs about EUR 10,00. Tickets are available at vending machines located at the local railway station. Remember that you will need to obtain a ticket before boarding the train.

 

Arrival by car

If you are travelling by car, the most convenient, huge (and free) parking lot is “Dalheimer Weg”. Please see campus map attached.

 

Arrival by train

to Mainz Hbf (Mainz Central Station).

 

Public transportation

You will only need a “Kurzstrecke” (short ride) - ticket to be purchased from the driver or at ticket vending machines (which you can find at some bus stops). For details visit: https://www.mainzer-mobilitaet.de/.

 

At the Mainz Hbf (Central Station), you can find plenty of connections:

·         From platform A tram lines 51 or 59 (directions: Lerchenberg/Hindemithstraße or Hochschule Mainz).

·         From platform L tram line 53 (direction Lerchenberg/Hindemithstraße)

·         or from platform E the following bus lines: 54, 55, 56 (direction Klein-Winternheim, Finthen, Wackernheim).

Get off at Friedrich-Von-Pfeiffer-Weg and take a short walk across the campus.

Rent a bike

There are rental bikes available all over the city to be used with a smartphone App https://www.mainzer-mobilitaet.de/meinrad/meinradapp (website only in German). The App itself is available in English.
