"We decide in the first few moments whether a person appears competent, likeable and trustworthy. . . . Out of evolutionary necessity, the brain makes this decision much more quickly based on our body language. It is therefore the messenger of our inner values."

The CRC 1660 will be hosting a fascinating workshop with Stefan Verra, one of the most sought-after body language experts in Europe.
In this workshop, we will explore our own body language and its impact on those around us. Furthermore, we will pay particular attention to the differences between genders: how certain gestures, postures, or facial expressions can carry different meanings, and how an awareness of these nuances can help us avoid misunderstandings and communicate more effectively.
Speaker: Stefan Verra
Date: 17 November 2026
Time: 9:00 – 16:00
Venue: HIM Building, Lecture Hall
The workshop is open to PhD students and young researchers from across the Mainz physics community.
